This Client was looking for a full refurbishment of the bathroom, ideally with the inclusion of a separated shower cubicle in addition to keeping the bath. Whilst the room was a reasonable size it was not ideally suited for including a cubicle without making some key alterations to the layout as the room has a sloping ceiling and the staircase bulkhead to the floor below encroached in the room.
To achieve a suitable layout the central heating system was altered to incorporate a combination boiler hence the cylinder cupboard became redundant, however due to the staircase bulkhead forming part of the cupboards lower structure it could not be totally remove. A new structure was formed to conceal the bulkhead incorporating storage for a vanity unit and formed a suitable position for the basin. A full facade was built to conceal a redundant window which was built to conceal a wall hung W.C frame and concealed cistern and form a suitable void for a recessed cabinet over the basin position. The new bathroom incorporated a bath of slightly reduced length and a suitably sized shower cubicle. A purpose built vanity unit was constructed below the basin with recessed storage above. A wall hung W.C suite and heated towel rail we also included. The room was fully tiled to walls and floor.New low energy recessed LED lighting and a high performance in-line fan were installed.
